YOUR WAY TO BETTER PICTURES: WACOM AT PHOTOKINA 2012

Professionals and enthusiasts will be on hand with invaluable tips and advice as well as providing visitors with an overview of all the latest creative tools from Wacom

At this year’s Photokina, under the slogan “Your way to better pictures”, Wacom will be demonstrating how photographers and enthusiasts can make the most of their creative potential using the latest picture editing tools. Top class imaging experts at the stand (hall 4.1, booth H010) will be delving deep into their box of tricks to demonstrate to visitors all the features of Wacom’s latest products – from the professional product lines Cintiq and Intuos5, which satisfy the highest requirements, through to the affordable Bamboo tablets and the Bamboo Stylus for users of smartphones and media tablets. Wacom will also be present at this year’s TIPA Awards, which will be held at the trade show on 18th September where the Intuos5 series will receive the coveted award in the category “Best Digital Accessory”.

Presentations and live demonstrations by imaging experts will take place at hourly intervals every day of the show at the Wacom stand. Experts will include photographers Hubertus Küppers and Christoph Kaltseis, designer Rebekka Strauss, motion designer Markus Bledowski, media designer Martin Doersch and photographer and image maker Robin Preston. The popular cartoonist Michael Holtschulte (totaberlustig.de) will also give a presentation on 18th September at 1pm and on 23rd September at 2pm on the subject of “iVolution – from pen and paper to Cintiq interactive pen display” followed by a signing session. Visitors of the stand can also look forward to expert presentations by Wacom partners, including Datacolor and Fotolia.

“Photokina, the most important, large-scale international event for the imaging sector, is about to start. We are particularly looking forward to talking with photo enthusiasts from across the world, whether they’re professionals or amateurs. Our experts will demonstrate how the right tools can help users to express their creativity and will invite visitors to watch,” explained Jürgen Kuschewski, event marketing manager and head of partner management at Wacom Europe GmbH.

Your ultimate way to better pictures: Cintiq
In the professional sphere, Wacom places special emphasis at this year’s show on the two new interactive pen displays in the Cintiq series, which will be presented to the wider public for the first time. The Cintiq 24HD touch is aimed at professionals who handle colour critical workflows – such as photographers or video and film cutters. Thanks to the large colour palette on the display, artists can be sure that the colours they see while working on the Cintiq can be optimally calibrated for printing or other types of reproduction. In addition, the device is the first model in the Cintiq series to offer multi-touch functions, enabling an even more intuitive and natural way of working. The Cintiq 22HD is a high performance interactive pen display for users who want to physically rotate the display in order to be able to work on their artwork from all angles. Visitors to the stand will be able to find out which Cintiq is best for them.

Your easy way to better pictures: Intuos5
Removing complex objects, retouching details, or drawing precise lines and curves – these are tasks that professional photographers are involved in every day. This work is significantly easier, better and quicker to do with a professional pen tablet from the Intuos5 series. Not only does it spare frayed nerves, it also saves time, enables users to work for longer periods without tiring and ultimately improves results. Experts at the Wacom stand will explain how imaging professionals can best use the highly developed features of the Intuos5 series in their daily work – for example, the precise and highly pressure sensitive pen, ergonomic handling and transferring keyboard commands to the pen tablet.

Your fun way to better pictures: Bamboo
Whether holiday snaps, photographic impressions for a blog, or portraits for social networking sites, most people keep a record of their most precious moments through photos and share their pictures with friends. A frequent Internet and social network user will have learnt a trick or two from the professionals but to jazz up pictures creatively means also having the right tool. Bamboo pen tablets make image editing intuitive like never before. Now everyone can conjure up the latest photo trends at home and on the move. The third generation of Bamboo tablets is tailored precisely to meet the needs of users who like to express themselves creatively and are connected to social media networks. Images and documents can now be easily designed, edited and uploaded. Users can retouch images with even greater precision using multi-touch and pen, and editing is quite literally at their fingertips.

Your mobile way to better pictures: Bamboo Stylus
Mobile imaging will be a focus at this year’s Photokina with smartphones and media tablets changing the way in which many people handle photos. Mobile devices are always to hand for taking spontaneous snapshots while on the move and then uploading the images to digital photo albums. For immediate, mobile editing of photos, Wacom offers high-quality pens for touchscreens in the form of its Bamboo Stylus range. As a result, mobile users can give their photos the perfect look. The free Wacom Bamboo Paper App makes the iPad a digital notebook. Whether it’s a favourite picture, or simply a handwritten commentary, sketch or note to friends, creative ideas can be spontaneously recorded on the media tablet with the Stylus.
